For women who have endured more than their hearts were built for, healing can feel overwhelming, like the weight of the world is still pressing on your shoulders. Yet, there is a place to rest, restore, and rise again, a space that honors your resilience, nurtures your wellness, and supports healing from the inside out.
Find Your Joy is a free 4-week healing series designed specifically for women impacted by gender-based violence. It offers a safe, compassionate environment where survivors can reconnect with themselves, rebuild emotional safety, and rediscover joy and balance in their lives.
Understanding the Impact of Gender-Based Violence
Gender-based violence leaves lasting marks, not only on the body but on the mind and spirit. Survivors may experience anxiety, depression, difficulty trusting others, and a hyper-alert nervous system that keeps them in a state of constant vigilance. These responses are natural and protective, but they can make everyday life exhausting and isolating.
Healing is not about “moving on” or forgetting. It’s about reclaiming your body, your space, and your sense of self, while learning tools to restore balance, resilience, and safety from the inside out.
What the Series Offers
- Trauma-Informed Guidance
Facilitated byAlethia Cadore, MA, RP, a psychotherapist with over 15 years supporting Black and racialized women, each session is built around safety, empathy, and empowerment. Alethia’s approach validates survivors’ experiences while guiding them toward restoration at their own pace. - Restorative Practices
The series includes grounding exercises, mindfulness practices, gentle movement, journaling, and self-reflection tools that help participants reconnect with their bodies, regulate the nervous system, and reduce stress. - Community & Connection
Survivors often feel alone in their healing journey. This series offers a compassionate community where women can share their experiences in a safe, confidential space and witness the resilience of others. - Holistic Wellness
Wellness is more than the absence of trauma. The series encourages participants to cultivate emotional, physical, and spiritual health, helping to rebuild their lives in a balanced, sustainable way.
Why Healing From the Inside Out Matters
Restoring wellness after gender-based violence is a multi-layered process. It’s about:
- Reclaiming Safety: Learning to feel secure in your body and surroundings.
- Regulating the Nervous System: Reducing hypervigilance and stress responses that linger long after trauma.
- Rebuilding Self-Compassion: Learning to speak kindly to yourself and honour your journey.
- Finding Joy: Reconnecting with what brings you pleasure, meaning, and fulfillment in life.
When healing is approached from this holistic perspective, survivors are not simply surviving they are reclaiming the fullness of their lives.
